Mitchell Family Vacation 2011 - Day 2 - Niagara Falls

After the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we drove most of the way to Niagara Falls and checked into our hotel.  We heard from several people that we needed to try the Anchor Bar because they have the "best wings ever".  So, we went.  I don't care for wings, but my boys enjoyed them!

The next morning we headed to the falls and took a ride on the Maid of the Mist.  The kids enjoyed it.  It was a quick, inexpensive, and fun thing to do.  I had been on the Maid of the Mist when I was a kid, but the rest of my family had never seen the falls.

Family Vacation 2011 - Day 1 - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum

Our family vacation this year was a whirlwind trip to several places.  It was a lot of fun! While I'd love to go back and spend some more time at many of the places we went, it was a great way to get a taste of lots of different places.  The kids did so well and I was so proud of them.  After all, we spend a LOT of time in the car!

On day 1, we got up early and headed to Cleveland.  Brandon and I had visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame WAY back when I was about 3 months pregnant with Cam.  Everyone in our house is obsessed with music...there is almost always something playing in our house.  Cameron has become pretty interested in a lot of the music his dad listens to...mostly classic rock...so he was excited about going to see some of the memorabilia from some of his favorite artists.

Unfortunately, they don't let you take any pictures inside the museum, but we got a few of the things in the lobby and outside.  We were lucky, too, because they actually had Johnny Cash's Tour Bus outside on display.  You could go inside AND take pictures.  I have never been a fan, but Cameron LOVES him for some reason...so he was in heaven!

Callie the Ballerina

Back in June (I know, I know...I'm a slacker) Callie started taking Ballet lessons. We were at Nana's house when we got ready to leave for ballet...so here are a few pictures of her in her little outfit. She's still going strong and LOVES her class and her teacher, Miss Hannah

She walked right in with no problem!
She started making friends right away :)

The class is a closed class, so the parents can't watch. The kids do much better without parents in the room. But at the end of the summer session, they had a parent's observation day. Here are a few pictures from that. It's so much fun having a girl and getting to do these things :)

Ack! Where has the time gone?!

Ok...I think about blogging at least once a week and time just keeps getting away from me. I'm trying to decide if I want to go back and blog about all of the things I've missed or just start where I'm at. SO many things went on over the summer and so far this fall. I am hoping to have some time this week to get some written up. I haven't given up on it yet!!!

Memorable Moments with a Diva August, 2011

I have a lot of catching up to do with this blog, but I've been enjoying the summer with my kiddos both home. I didn't want to forget a few little things that Callie has done in the last week...she cracks us up on a regular basis. Her vocabulary and attitude are larger than life!

First of all, my parents have a Luau every summer. We were in the back part of their yard and Callie was playing. I ran to the house for something and Brandon was watching her. There were a ton of people there and as I was walking back to the yard, Brandon was heading toward me. In a split second he had lost track of where she was and he was running to find her. The yard is fenced in, but they have a pool, so he of course panicked. It was a total of about 15 seconds that she was out of sight before we found her in the play house/gravel pit at the front part of the yard. I said..."Callie, if you are going to leave daddy you need to tell him first. You almost gave him a heart attack and we need to keep him around!" She just looked at me, threw her hands out to the side and exclaimed, "I'm a princess!!!". Oh. My. Goodness.

Secondly, the other day, Brandon had just got home from work and he was cuddling with her on the couch. He said "You are my beautiful girl!" and she just looked at him, tilted her head and started batting her eyelashes. Where does she learn this stuff?

The last thing was just tonight. She's obsessed with shoes and she changes her shoes dozens of times a day. She wears everyone's shoes! We got home today and the first thing she did was change into her blue flip flops that my dad bought her a few weeks ago. She climbed up on my lap and this was our conversation:

Me: "You changed your shoes already?!"
Callie: "I wike dees shoes!"
Me: "Who got you those shoes?"
Callie: "My Pappy did."
Me: "Do you love your Pappy?"
Callie: "Yep"
Me: "He's pretty alright, huh?"
Callie: "NO! I'm pretty!"

Something tells me that we are going to have our hands full with this one!

Memorable Moments with Cameron 6/6/2011

Today Cameron told us that he wanted to have 10 kids when he grows up and gets married. I would be a VERY happy grandma for sure!!! He wants to have 5 girls and 5 boys! He told me he already has the names picked out for the boys. They all have to have 3 letters...Jim, Tom, Bob, Tim, and Joe. He doesn't have the girl's names picked out yet, but he did tell me while we were jogging together this evening that they can have up to 4 or 5 letters :) Watching him with Callie, it doesn't surprise me that he wants to have a lot of kids...but then again he could change his mind!
